Default Need Stage 2 Cam Kit for Raptor .....Help!

i am making some adjustments to my raptor since my buddy has now bought a yfz 450 and is kicking my butt... I am looking to put a stage two cam and piston kit into my raptor and I am wondering where is the best place to get this kit... Looking for the best bang for the buck... Have checked out alba racing and they are looking at almost a grand... Not sure if there is anyone cheaper, but dont want to trade off quality and dependability. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks

There are alot of things to concider before doing this....one is...if you have and 01 Raptor, you may want to check the condition of your piston rod first...If it is warn then you may want to reconsider the idea....You are chasing good money after bad....Do you have an up graded pipe, filter jetting yet?

Hey Itallion, were there issues with the 01 Rods? I looked on the OEM parts finder and the rod part number is the same for all years so do you have any Idea what the differences are?

There is no differences in years and the stock rod only becomes an issue after high compression is added and not always in every case.

1K?? you can buy an 11:1 piston for $150 stage 2 cam for around $125 and dual stage springs for another $100, $50 for gaskets.

That's $425 if you do the work yourself.

No...they are all the same but being an 01 it would tend to have more wear on it being a 3 year old motor....Whats the sense of putting in a new piston and a cam with heavy duty springs...your only being harder on a rod that has alot of wear on it already and the build would probably not last that long....IMO.

Magicracing.com has the lowest prices I've seen on the kibblewhites and a few other parts. I got a lot of my internals from them.

11:1 stock bore piston shoud be fine on the stock rod. If you go bigger bore or higher comp its time to look for a rod upgrade.

hey is changing the cams a big deal? because in one of the magazine it has a cam install kit for 122 bucks.??? i thought it was just a matter of swapping cams? if he would install a stage one hot cam would he need to use a dial indicator and micrometer and all that crap? or can he just swap out the camshaft?

Check out max power big bore kits:

Max-power

I thought they were pretty reasonable.

Changing the cam is easy. No special tools.
