What is the ride comfort factor for the two? How is the suspension on the two? I know the wolvy has a more of a sport suspension, but how comfortable is it on all day rides? The 2 guys I ride with the most have 2x4 big bears in stock form. They can do some wheelies, play in the mud a little, cross rivers, and run about 50. Do I go with the modded big bear and have a slight edge? Will the Wolverine give me that much more of an edge?

Wolverine will spank the big bear, but they are differnet machines. I am not saying the Big Bear is bad. However the Wolverine is hard to wheelie in stock form.

im sure the ride comfort on the big bear is better at slow speeds but I dont find the wolverine to be especially uncomfortable but im only sitting half the time anywyas. And to whoever said drop a warrior engine in a wolverine, it is a warrior engine hot stuff. thats why pistons and cam shafts and the like are interchangeable. it just has different transmissions. I belive there is a kit to convert the tranny to fully manual but i dont want to do that cause when i do hit the mud a clutch is a pain in the ****. when your stuck and you have to get off an push or pull having to fiddle the clutch instead of just leaving it idling in gear and hitting the gas as needed without stalling is a world of a difference. The semi auto does me just fine it really doesnt bother me to not be clutching because I ride it in a lot of tight woods its just extra work. when i want to clutch i ride my quadzilla or my dirtbike. That is a good price on the bigbear and you may get 50 out of it with the pipe and filter but where can you go 50 on that hunk. not that its a bad quad but i assure you you will feel much safter doing 50 in the woods on your wolverine then on your big bear. the suspention and handling is much tighter with less body roll. I've ridden plenty of other quads like the grizzly and as nice as they are the wolverine is muuuch more fun to drive. if your getting it to ride for a few years and sell maybe you want the big bear but if your investing in a quality piece of play machinery you plan on keeping the wolverine is my choice. there is also a lot of room for upgrades on the engine. over the past 3 or 4 years ive slowly upgraded mine as my skill level increased. I started with protection like skids and cv guards. Next i got bars and handguards and a FMF megamax with K&N filter and torque stuffer, just a month or two ago i went for the high compression piston and white brothers cam with stiffer valve springs and coming this fall or winter im going for 25 inch surtracks or bearclaws all the way around and 1.5" wheel spacers. Another thing is I love the lines of the wolverine somthin about it just catches my eye. A lot of these bigger utility quads just dont do anything for me their just clunky in their looks and their handling. im not dissing them in general they are the right thing for some people but if your in for sport riding but you want a machine that can hang with the utility quads in work and mud but still hang with z400s and 400exes this is really the only choice. I love it no quad like it made by any company to date

Lets go over this one more time, please? IS 1000-1600 more for a Wolverine as opposed to the 2x4 Big Bear going to be worth it? MAybe I should just buy the 2x4 big bear at 3800-4000, and keep it for few years and then buy another quad. Perhaps the wolvy, mabye something different by then. I'am sure my wife or my 7 year old boy would be able to handle the bear just fine after a few years of riding. Let me know what you buys think...

I kind of have a biased opinion towards the wolverine, but I think you would regret it if you didn't spend the extra for the wolverine. It truely is a great machine with endless upgrades if you want to beef it up.

Why not look for a 1-3 year old Wolverine so it is cheaper than the Big Bear? The Wolverine is so durable that you will not be losing any reliabuility when getting a used one. That is what I did. I bought a 99 with racks and winch and trailer hitch for $3000. I plan on letting the wife ride it when I get another one.

I'am always skeptical when it comes to a used quad! Unless I know the person very well. I would rather buy a new one, and have the warrenty, plus the piece of mind knowing that I'am the only one that has used/abused it.

How good does the Wolverine hold up in the front end, when pushing over little sapplings, or running threw the briars and weeds? It doesent really have a front rack, or bumper to puch stuff out of the way. I'am afraid I'll end up with broken headlights and a busted up oil cooler. Let me know about this issue.

The majority of trails I ride are not that open, or long. I dont know if I will need something with the speed of the Wolverine, although it would be nice, I just dont really ride that way. I'am going to think about it hard for the next two days and then I'am going to buy.... All help appriceated
