hmm, after i installed my hot cam my bike ticks pretty loud when it gets hot. I set the clearance to .004in/.006 exhaust and so did my buddy on his raptor with the same mods. his is quiet, and mine ticks loudly after we both broke them in. i just checked my valves again, and there perfect, in fact i have them set tighter than hotcam wanted to try and stop the ticking(it was lounder with there specs). basically, what else could be causing a typwriter type sound, or do i have valve train problems?

 

Did you lock tite the gear bolts. I would pull the head and check the bolts I sheered one off got stuck on the chain and pushed a hole in the head. It's better to be safe than sorry.

 

I'll bet money its your decompression pin, the hc pin sucks and ended up costing me some money.

 

i know that powroll eliminated the decompression on their 770 that was featured in dirt wheels a couple of years ago
they said that the stock starter still turned it over with no problem
how can you eliminate the auto decompression feature

 

Mine Does the same thing all the time and its starting to run hot about every 30minutes of hard riding
