As far as how much power a worn out engine has I would say less than 10 percent unless it has parts worn beyond minumum specs like cams,piston rings,valve lash.

dude, i had a 1988 warrior it was a 6 speed. ALL warriors since 1987 are six speeds. the only changes other than colors and wheels and stupid piddly crap occured on the 1990 model when yamaha moved the engine back in the frame to reduce the front end weight problems and moved the lights up to the current location. they also took off the recoil backup starter and changed something with the float on the carborator.
six speed is great. i wish the OEMS would still do this. it makes for better gear ratios.
