Age and speed

and just so you know, an extra gear doesnt give you more speed, it just shortens the gap between each gear, allowing for better acceleration. 6 gears just means that it needs 6 gears that are closely ratioed for an engine that isnt strong enough to accelerate as fast with a 5 speed tranny.
think about it. if a warrior had 4 gears and went 55 it would take a while, because it couldnt blow through the gears as fast. thats why it has 6 gears.
-you would be right to say that if you added another gear to a 5 speed making it a 6, then it would be faster, but yamaha(and all other models) make 6 speeds that are the same speed as 5 speeds, they just need lower gearing to get up to speed.
an example is that a kx 80 has 6 speeds, whereas a kx 125 has 5 speeds, since the kx is stronger, there really isnt a need for the close gears in the gearbox.
