SHOULD I TAKE OFF MY REV LIMITER ON MY 686 TO MAKE IT FASTER?? I ALREADY HAVE AN AFTERMARKET ONE
i raced a trx 450 today really fixed up. hi-c piston 15:1 , hot cam 4 , fixed up carb, pipe, n i dont know what else but he had no rev limiter. i was trippen i thought you couldnt start the bike without it. N im curious cause he was as fast as my 686 for the most part. i have an aftermarket rev limiter that gives an extra 1000 rpm. but if i took my rev limiter would their be a big difference?? N i know that maybe i could fry my engine but is it likely to happen honestly? let me know!! please!

u can take it off....but, if you rev too high, and the valve springs arent stiff enough, you'll get valve float when the engine is screamming past redline, and the outcome of that isnt cheap...if it were my quad...i would keep it on, or try to find one that gives a higher limit, with stiffer springs to handle that RPM
