Hi guys. Sorry for entering the meelee so late. I have been waiting for a good explaination of the Wolverine front wheel drive system, but I haven't seen it. So I guess I need to just ask the question. I realize the Wolverine has a limited slip front differential, so it cannot put full power to a single front wheel. But it also seems to have a torque limiting ramping clutch in the front drive system inside the engine casing. This seems to mean that it can't even deliver full power to both front wheels. It seems to indicate that you can get in a situation that both rear wheels are spinning, but both front wheels are at a stand still. If I am wrong about this torque limiting clutch, can someone explain what this thing does?

The parts I am taking about are parts #21 and 22 in the "MIDDLE DRIVE GEAR" page in Ronnies, Wolverine, 2003. The ramping part #22 is held into the ring gear center mating ramp by spring #21. Part #22 connects to the front drive shaft part #25. It appears to me that as torque is applied from the ring gear center ramp to the ramp on part #22, part #22 slides along the splines on the output shaft #25 and is forced against the spring #21. At some torque to the front drive system, the force exerted on the ramps will exceed the spring force and the ramps will become disengaged. This is why I called it a torque limiting device. Has anyone taken this thing apart? Or measured the torque limit?

Thanks BryceGTX

the wolvy will have 4 wheels spinnin, until you get one front tire up in the air, or just gun it, then it provides all the power to the back wheels, and whichever front wheel offers the least resistance...(which is usually in the air ,

todster, i owned a kodiak before my scrammy, and theres no comparison. if i can kill my dads sportsman 700......the kodiak is the least of my worries.
