Problem with 05 IRS Kodiak 450's
YA MiseryMachine I thought it was something like that. I could leave the bracket on but when not plowing and in summer I think it ruins the look of the machine and it looks like a tree/debree grabber to me. Wish they would of did something different. I leave my hook on to but I think if I replace the screew with a loop screew I could actually use the end hook of the winch. Only difference I see if you might not be able to lift the plow as high as before but who lifts the plow that high anyway. Reason being if I want to remove or put on the plow I need a wrench to tighten the screw. With a loop that would allow me to use the hook it would be real quick. I don't think there would be that much play by using th hook or if it would really matter?

I know where you are coming from.... i originally thought the same thing... why even bother with that bracket and just put my hook onto the rack..... but my dealer mentioned, that the soul purpose of that bracket is just incase someone tries to over lift the plow, the bolt is made to snap... to prevent damage to the racks and plow assembly..... i would rather have that bracket bend then my front racks.... but i personally don't think it would make a difference......

Well after getting my Kodiak back from the dearler who fixed my squeakie brake problem it's starting to come back. This tells me that all they did was clean it out and now it's dirty again. It lasted almost a hundred miles. I belive I'll take it back just because.... One other problem I have notice is that on one front tire, on the inside half, it's wearing twice as much as the other half and the other three tires. Is something out of adjustment? Does anyone know how you adjust the toe-in or out?Would this be covered under the Warranty. It's not a big problem but I'd like it fixed before I put on some Mud-lites or Dirt-Devils. Let's here your thoughts!

I too just had my machine in got it back Friday. Just last night while plowing it started skeaking again. My dealer said he claned the brakes and when I clean it with hose to spray water in the rear brake to clean it? Dunno but I maybe put 1hr on it and it came back. So I think I will leave well enough alone unless the squeal gets really annoying. Also my stering (handle bars) didn't seem centered when the kodiak was going straight so I also had them align it. They said it was out and it was covered under warranty.

Hey Windmill, I rthink thats what I will do. I going tell them it's not tracking right and just look at this tire. who knows maybe they can fix it. Sounds like you got a good dealer up there. This one is a joke and the Mechanic looks like something out of Deliverance. I'm looking foward to our first snow so I can get out and play. I sure want this tire problem solved before I spend a wad on some new tires.
My warranty runs out March 10, 05 and I plan to get as much out of it as I can.

hey you guys will the cold weather and the snow.... before i ride EVERYTIME!!, i check my oil, just habit.... now, when the machine has been sitting there, i check it... and it is low... theres oil there, but it is low... anyways.. the manual says warm it up for a few minutes then check the oil, when i do this... it is fine... but when it first starts up, it is pretty noisey, metal clacking, until it is warm, and oil is though it... does anybody else get this? Also, if you have to start it up, and warm it up before checking the oil... what happens if you don't have enough oil, and of course cause damage... whats the safest route?

my 05 has a hard time idling until it's up to temperature as well. I have to sit there and hold it at a fast idle for quite awhile.
I've thought about adjusting the idle up, but then when it's warmed up, it would likely idle too high.
A throttle lock would be nice in this situation for sure.
