Yeah alot of times it wants to pull the atv if i use only the winch so you know what i mean. But yeah other than that and the rearend seal going out and the tie rod end busting i have had 0 problems. I also have 400 miles on my 05 kodiak and i ride it hard most of the trails we ride are at Windrock in tn which has 219000 acres and over 100 trails i mostly stay on difficult and extreme trails and some moderate but yeah I have definately put it to the test.

re: engine miss when cold...... the machine will have an unstable idle or miss till it will warm up due to the fact thet the air fuel mixture is not always correct compare to the temperature of the engine, or sohuld I say what the engine needs.
when the engine is cold you need a richer mixture (more fuel added to the air) , and the choke does just that.

your spark plug should not be black, and should not need replacing.
I would check and see if your choke cable operates properly, and also make sure it has a "free play " once it is pushed back all the way. your manual will tell you about that.
check you air filter and air passages( make sure no squirells or field mouse are nasting in there... don't laugh ) or no shop rags are left in there...

if all looks good your jetting may be set too rich from the factory, what elevation are you at?
checkwith you dealer your machine should be under warranty.

Guys theres nothing to it. Takes about 30 min. to do all four. If I remember right it uses a 9mm wrench. They are not even on tight. Your right, theres not alot of room, and I have big hands so If I can do it most of you will not have a problem. Once you get them out take your new one and Gently thread it in and snug it up where it pointing to the rear when it gets close to tight. If it looks like it going to be pointed in the wrong direction then back it out and slip a small flat washer on it and reinstall and tighten it pointing to the rear, maybe alittle to the inside. That will make it even more easier to slip your grease gun on and off.
How often to grease? I do it way to often cause I like to tinker with my machine, But say you have been riding in the mud or water then I would grease it so as to push any moistier out along with any grit that might have gotten loged in there. As far as the front there's only one up front and thats on the drive line and so far I have not been able to find anything that will fit in there. So I'm ordering a needle adapter from sears and that should do it.With the needle you can stick it right in the zerk on the u-joint and grease it that away. This is sure a great site where all us Kodiak owners can exchange ideas!! Oh yea, did you guys watch ATV television last week. They had the best of everything show. In the catagory of best atv for the "Most Exterme riding conditions" they chose the Kodiak 450 hands down, due to it's power to weight ratio it's unstoppable! The first thing I did was call up my Polaris buddy and before I could say anything he said he was also watching the show. I've already had the enjoyment of pulling his 700 out twice! Now I have to work on this front end alinement thing cause one side of the left tire is wearing twice as much as the other.Anybody know anything about toe adjustment? Later

Quick question: What auto parts store did you get the zerks from, and do you happen to know the SIZE in case they have a few different sizes? I got the assortment pack from AutoZone but it isn't metric.

I was playing my son's ATV offroad fury Playstation game and had an urge to get out the four wheeler and ramp off people's driveways in the neighborhood. If there was snow on the ground I probably would have!

Sedwick no it will not pull any wheelies yet but it will soon i am waiting on my piston. I can tell you one thing with the intake and exhaust and clutch kit it runs so much better its a huge difference i mean it has that same pull in high gear as it does in low which to me is great. I put the jet kit in last night so havent rode it yet but sure its a bit better. Let me know when you decide to modify yours because exhaust or intake is not on the market yet for the 05 450 but i can give you some part numbers from other atvs that will fit right up i did some research to get my exhaust and intake.

And guys your making it to hard grease zerks are easy to put in buy what the guy told you and take a 9mm and go to work its like putting lug nuts on simple

true...watch out for the diam. of the tread.... I got a "metric variety pack zerks" and none of it fit , they were all slightly too big.

dmger 14, I got the the pack at the NAPPA store. They had metric and standard. Its like the industry use one size in standard and Metric, just get the metric and it should be the right size, or bring one in and they will have a caliper to measue with. It's easy!!!!!!!
