Kodiak dead battery while alone
#1
My 03 is about 18 months old and recently on a 50 F degree day my battery quit. I'm glad that the pull start worked like a charm as I was alone in the deep woods and just finished using my winch ( the bike was started at the time) to extract myself from one of those not so deep mud holes between a bunch of trees. Does anyone think that the stock battery shold be replaced?- I've heard that they do not last that long. Or is it that fact that I was using the winch for about 40 seconds continually was the liley culprit.

OH yeah thank God for pull start!! Mine is a 00 & we've had to replace the battery once so far, & right now it's dead they just don't seem to last that long for some reason?? It doesn't seem like yours should of went dead running your winch w/ the bike running I would definetly try a new batter seeings how it is a yr & 1/2 thats about when we replaced mine I think, good luck!!

i'd recomend a aftermarket bat. a non yamaha one, the yamaha bats. no offence to them, are way too expensive to keep replacing and they do not offer the amperage that aftermarket ones that you can find at Batterysource or a battery store offer. just make sure the battery is the same polarity as that of ur stock.
