a buddy of mine brought over his Big Bear and it ws squeaking and popping in the front........Before we even checked to see what the problem was we were quick to blame it on the bearings....After changing the bearing the noise is still there....We think it could be the u joint...How hard is this to change and does this sound right?

 

Sounds like the cv-joint to me also. I would make sure though. You dont want to buy one and install it, and not be the fix. I give changing one out a 6 on the toughness scale. If you have all the right tools, it may go easier for you. My problem is never having the tools I need.

 

I would say cv joint too, make sure which one it is before you change one. I would say it be the outer though. You can pick up rebuild kits for about $75. They are a cinch to replace, but I've replaced 4 now.
