big bore banshee??
#1
I have a 1998 banshee and am thinking of going to a big bore (68mm) what all do you have to do besides getting your cylinders resleeved. I have a cool head with 18cc domes on it now, do they make big bore domes for a pro design cool head, or do I need em???

well I have a set of cylinders that already have big bore sleeves in them but they need resleeved. I can resleeve them myself. I was just wondering what else I have to do. I have 18cc domes now on a 64.5mm bore 54mm stroke and have 172psi. I want to stay around 175psi. Do you have to go to a big bore dome?? I have heard that when people do this they have to get there head rechambered to accomidate the bigger bore.

On big bore you will need to run big bore domes or have your stock head's squish band cut to match the new piston diameter.

I ran the Vitos 68 mm 404cc big bore kit for a couple years.
+4" swing arm extension is a must, otherwise you're always pointed skyward.
My motor never ran hot even with the stock head. I was running 380 and 400 mains in it for jets. Yes Vito redomes your cylinder head to match the flame front and shaves .060 or .080 off. I was only around 155-160 psi, so could run premium pump gas fine.
If you've got some spare cylinders that need re-sleeving anyways, go for it!
PM me with an email address and I can send you some pictures showing the 68mm Vito Power Piston and dome reshaping.
Mine was pretty fast and dyno'd at about 58 horsepower, but I think a good port job and a 370 kit may give you a higher reving power due to lighter pistons. I went through a set of Vito pistons a year too, so keep that in mind with their shorter skirt you get more piston slap. $200 a year for pistons gets pricey after a couple times through the motor.
