Let me see if i foller ya. No way in hell you could run a 15cc dome with stock porting? thats about diesel compression... hmm diesel banshee? anyhow when you change the ports you loose some compression? so you use a smaller dome to get it back?

Do you even know what compression does for a motor?
I sure hope your not talking to me?

You have a very nice "drag" bike there. But it is built for one purpose. Not everyone needs to go full out all the time. And there is no way your going to convince me that higher compression does not put more strain on the whole system . We are talking a stock banshee with a stock crank here. Granted you only talking a jump to 160 or so. But still. Why make things more complicated than they need to be.

We can have that discussion if you wish. I guess I'm no pro engine builder. But I've done ok in my 25+ years of riding.

I do not want this to turn in to an argument...I guess we are kind of getting off track from the main question.

To get it's full or highest reading on a banshee your looking at 12-15 kicks....I have a shaved head and run 165 Psi with +4 timimg at sea level with 80 degree weather and it will run on 93 pump fuel but once warmed up it starts to loose some of it's pep, switched over to 100 octane and now runs awesome all the time. 165 is borderline for the banshee and with +4 timing I was beyond pump gas. ......and besides it's only 50 cents more to run the 100 instead of the pump 93 and I can now shave the head and recut the squish somemore on the next rebuild to get about 180 psi and still be safe.

Raising your compression by 1/3 (33%) won't affect reliability on a Banshee?

One of our motor builders told us anytime you raise the compression on a Banshee, you need to have the crank welded, because otherwise you are looking for trouble.

What is your take on this?

I have run a bone stock crank before for over a year with 17cc domes and no problem. I can promise you it didnt get babied around either. Even had alky run on it a few times. Oooppps... I forgot, it's still in the bike. It is going to get replaced this winter but stock stuff is pretty darn tough.

lady friend. 160-170 psi will be fine in a stock motor. This change will only change your hp by a few ponies and torque by a few points. We arent porting the motor here, and it is still stock.

Would i weld a crank? Yes, but that is because anytime i go into a motor it is ported, piped, ect. When you start with a 34hp motor and take it to 65hp that would require a crank to be trued and welded. But a 34hp motor to a 36hp motor wont hurt it any.
