Need Info on a new Kodiak

Hi JTRider,
I had a 1998 4x4 Big bear prior to recently buying a Y2K Kodiak. What amazes me is all the places I can ride in 4x2 and the fuel economy of this mode. With the 4 gallon tank this quad does in half a tank what took my Big bear a full tank. Also you can just push the button into 4x4 anytime the terrain warrants it. I haven't made the belt slip yet and have been in water over the tires. All in all I'd rate it a major improvment over my Big Bear and not having to shift gives me better concentration on picking that good line out on the trail. My suggestion is go for it!

My situation sounds similar to yours. I had a T-wolf then a Recon, both good bikes. I'm very pleased w/the Kodiak. It's excellent on hills and especially down steep hills due to the engine brake in the front wheels. It's fast for a utility and won't hang w/ the SP 500 but will flat outrun it as I have many times with my buds who ride Polaris. I've gone through every mud hole the SP's go through, but they go through with less effort in the bad stuff. Kodiak's are faster than a 450es and probably mud about the same due to clearance. The reliability seems excellent so far and have had no belt slippage w/ water to seat.
