I dont want to pay more than $30 shipped, I would go ahead and get a high RPM one if I got to pay more than that. Has anyone upgraded the coil and plug wire?? or the rectfier?? did it make a difference??

50 would have been a deal for me. I blew my cdi back in the summer of 03 and the only choice I had was oem or a 450 dollar dyna. I had to shell out 300 for oem. Kind of being a little stingy arent you? Even the cheap junk aftermarket ones go for about 120+.

Why do you think you need a new one? Here's what I found with mine this weekend. The wires come out of the bottom. They were rubbing on the plastc bottom area of the battery compartment. I found 5 or 6 that were rubbed threw to the wire and 1 was hanging together by a thread. I was having wierd problems and this is what I found, worht checking out if you haven't checked that yet. You'll need to remove the CDI from the compartment to see this possible problem.

yep, did that and is what led me to think the cdi is bad. found two that were exposed and grounding against each other, so pulled out the harness and fixed it, then turned the CDI so the connector face up to keep it from happening again. my coil tests bad it does not read according to the book, and when I put another one on it blew it out too so I think the raw wires shorted something in the cdi causing it to blow up the coiul and plug wires so thats why I need both, I think...
