yes. I think it will be a great quad but can't these people shut up about it being all that when they have only seen pictures. My friend I ride with is selling he warrior and getting a raptor. Now all he does is talk how he will beat me because some jackass at a magazine said it is slighty faster than a stock banshee. Well all I have to say is mine is far from stock and I can't wait to smoke them up oldsmobile hill all day long..lol

I know I am. My brother just got his. The dealer did a **** poor job assembling it. A rear wheel fell off, axle of course slammed into the ground. he flew off, and the damn thing hit a tree. LOL. Needless to say, its gone and hes getting a 400EX. I'm quite content with my QR.

I'll tell you what I became sick of...how about the months (& years) of nothing but 400ex this and 400ex that? Not to mention the 250r for who knows how long. Did anyone moan about that? I look at it this way-it's not a 400ex and Yamaha does deserve a lot of credit for being ballsy and not caving in on the performance market. Let them have credit where credit is due. Besides, the Raptor DESERVES every bit of praise it is receiving!! For once we have a machine that lives up to the hype.

I did I picked mine up yesterday, and the hype is all that it is. Handles better than friends 4ooex the engine pulls like 4ooex. but way harder. It just plain rocks. The only complaint that I have is it is geared a little tall.

Tell us more about the gearing, please. Does it feel like it can pull all the way to redline in 5th gear? I did some calculating and that would equal 92 mph at 8930 rpm which I highly doubt is possible so I'm thinking that you might could drop one tooth on the front sprocket without loosing much, if any, top speed. That would still give you a theoretical top speed of 85 mph at 8945 rpm. What do you think?

I have only ran about a tank of gas through it, so I haven't run it wide open long enough to find out. The way it pulls through the gears I would say it should pull to redline easy. With the stock tires it is only geared high in the really tight woods. You could get by with it the way it is. I want my taller tires for the ground clearance. In stock form it doesn't feel tippy at all, I never once felt like was going to high sde on me, so I'm not worried abpout the width and putting 2"taller tires on it.
