blasters have problems like that if yours is a 01 i would take it back, most of the time its just the wires up by the light going into the nose.
From the steering, and bouncing sometimes they will come loose/break ect. they could also be Wet,have moisture in them. i no longer have my headlight on.

I just got an 88 blaster, there is no cover to the bulb where that light is, does it indicate low oil level in the tank, or high oil temp in the tranny?? just so I know. btw, it has never come on, I assume it doesn't work

If your light sometimes goes off when you ride, then that means that it is normally on and that means big trouble! It should only come on for a few seconds when you start it, and also come on when you are low on oil! If the resevoir is full and the light won't go off then take it back, or just buy a block off kit!

I've noticed, that when the oil rez is 2/3 full or lower that the light has a tendeency to come on when the riding gets hard.
Solution, top off the oil rez whenever I go ride. No fear of running dry, and if the ligh comes on, I'll know there's a serious prob.
