Default High Rev Idle?????

I recently purchased two 660 Rappys and noticed that when idling sometimes, it will stay reved high.

example:
In neutral...i rev it up and let go...engine revs up and drops back down but not all they way back to idle...still revs kinda high...
I then pull the clutch, pop it into gear, let clutch out slowly and very little and rev drops back down to idle right before clutch catches gears.

Is this normal or are my throttle cable sticky because they're new??

It will do the same thing while in gear as well if I let go of the throttle.

Might be a kinked throttle cable or you need to adjust the idle which is on the left side next to the carb...

Turn your handle bars left and right. If your idle picks up, then your throttle cable is likely bound or twisted with the choke cable.

Sometimes, when people jet the carbs, they leave the cables attached to the carbs. You have to turn the carb upside down to jet. People sometimes don't unwind the carbs before re-installing.

But they are brand new...no mods yet so it cant be because of jetting. And it does it on both of my rappys

Default High Rev Idle?????

it's mostlikely normal, my wolvy does it when it first starts up, until I start to ride for about 10 minutes. the reson why it goes back down when you put it in gear is because now you power is being put some where (the wheels). the wheels give the engine the restriction to go back to normal rev.the only time there would be something wrong is when you pop it in to gear and the revs don't go down. then you have to adjust your Idel screw.

Thanks for the replies...
Im starting to think its normal since, like you said, it goes away when there is a load put on it and because its happening to both bikes.

my wolvy does I'm not sure if they consider a pure sport quad. I call it a SUQ (Sport Utility Quad)

I don't think its normal. My Raptor never did that when it was new. I think it has something to do with the way your dealer set up your quads.

If the Idle screw on the left side of the engine doesn't lower the RPM, then the throttle cable needs adjustment.

IMO
