Default is 06 really the last year?

Can anyone provide a true basis for this idea? I, as well as many others, have been hearing the rumor of the banshee being discontinued for about three years now with no evident change in actual production. I spoke with a few dealers and they each told me that although they have heard the rumor as well, they have received no official notices from Yamaha regarding the discontinuation of the banshee in future product lineups.

The brunt of this rumor seems to come from possible legislation resulting from the study perfomed by the clean air resoration division of the epa. However, the only legislation that I know of which has carried any rider with such a basis was struck down in committee two sessions ago.

If anyone has any hard evidence regarding this matter, please let us know. Until then, I regard the matter as nothing more than rumor.

P.S. If you would like to read exactly what was and wasn't said by EPA, who I work for by the way (we aren't all "tree-huggers"), it can be found here:

A regular 4 stroke lawnmower produces more emissions in an hour then a car does in a week. Cars run super clean now, the real issue is disel trucks.

I was at my local Yamaha dealer two weeks ago and talked to a salesman about this. He pulled out some official looking book that had the PROJECTED lineups from the manufacturers they carried for the next five years. 2007 Yamaha did not include the Banshee and he said he had heard that 06 was the last year.
