We just install the Alba kit, runs great...but the header is glowing at night....is this normal?

 

shouldnt glow, sounds like your running lean

 

You are running lean. I have a friend witht the exact quad set-up and he has not rejetted richer and his head pipe is permanently trashed after countless lean runs.

What size jets would you guys recommend? It is 30 degrees out, 700 ft above sea level! I installed a 155 and 160 jets.

 

For the 1st week after I got my bigun header it used to glow too. After a few rides it stopped glowing. Some pipes just like to glow when they are new. Alot of posts about stock 450's glowing on 1st runs as well. If the jetting is right you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

 

Definetly sounds like you need to jet up. Maybe try another run and see if it turn's red. If it does then jet up. What did you do the install on and I can give you a idea of what you need...

 

Hey guys I am running the stage three Alba Pipe on my Raptor and I had Alba jet it for me and my pipe glows red at night too. I have only ran my bike for a few days since putting the pipe on but I was told it will glow red hot. I know if a bike is running lean it will glow but Alba did my jetting so I am not worried about the glowing pipe. My buddy has a YFZ450 and his pipe glowed for while when it was new but now it doesnt. Hope that helps..........[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

 

This post is about a 660 Raptor! I was involved with putting the kit on last nite! Is the 160/155 jets big enough for are area/temp?

If you got the entire kit from Alba, the jet's they sent you should be just fine. If you did install the Alba kit, then use their needles, and bump up to a 165/160 and it should run fine.
