Default Yamaha Kodiak 450 Tires Question

Humm mudflipper eh? Thats not what I want at all! Might look nice but if there wider than my fenders I can see how the mud would fly no matter what tire you put on it. Well then is there any rims that are not offset that would prodive better mud protection? Maybe I'll just stay with stock rims and stay stock size at25X8 -12 in Front and AT25X10 rear mudlites? Whatcha all think. Would this provide mud protection and no loss of power?

Default Yamaha Kodiak 450 Tires Question

Are there any after market rims that will retain the same demension as my stock rims. I don't want the tire comming out beyond my fenders?

Default Yamaha Kodiak 450 Tires Question

Any aftermarket rims anyone can suggest that will retain the origional rims dimensions ( Not offset?). And how can you tell if a rim is offset unless they specificly tell you it is? Is there anything in the dimensions that tell you this?

Thanks!

I think most all aftermarket rims are offset. Probably because they came out when big foot kits became popular (25" Blackwaters if you want to call that a bigfoot kit). They were aimed at mudding and a wider stance improved on getting you on the outside of already made ruts, and also to allow more space for the wider 12" mud tires.

Might ask somebody that has some douglas rims. The ITP's are all offset, and I'm pretty sure the same goes for Maxxis and Highlifter as well.

Thanks Andy Bassham thats what I was kinda thinking from everything I was reading. I like the look of the new aluminum rims but I don't want mud flinging in my face either. If I had extended fenders that wouldn't be a problem. But they don't have them yet for the Kodiak 450 and I don't know if I really want them cuz I like the stock look.

Default Yamaha Kodiak 450 Tires Question

Did you have any problems getting the 26x12x12 tires mounted on your stock rims??? Bought some Bearclaws of that size and my local tire shop tired to mount with no success. Said it would ruin the sidewall if he tried any harder. I really hate to have to spend a bunch of money to ship them back or to go out and buy new rims.
