Just take it easy for the first 10 to 15 hours. Vary your speed constantly and don't go full throttle for the first few rides. The first oil change is very important so DO IT when the manual says to and not anytime after. That's how I break em in anyway.

The Right Way to Break In a Motor This has been an ongoing battle and as far as I can tell this is how I have done all my motors and I am on my 11th new quad and also my 4th race motor with no problems, just upgrading all the time.....

Guess I stand corrected. My dad says the same thing about a new car or truck but I still have a hard time not babying a new motor. My brother-in-law just got a 05' Raptor last week. He put about 6-hours on it over the weekend. He rode it pretty easy. Maybe I should pass this information on to him and let him decide.

thats how i broke in my recon, and that article is correct when i got to the dealer, the mechanics were riding it. i got on it and tore stuff up, is mostly based on the new boring of the motor and the piston being more clean cut and presise, eliminating the need for a break in.
