Default RPM Guage....

finding a tach isnt the real problem, it's hooking it up.

Could i hook an analog tach up to the sparkplug?

Wiring it wouldnt be a problem, i just need somewhere to wire it to...That 400$ electrical componet is way too much for my needs, cause all i really want is a tach.

What about a speedometer? Is there something i could do to rig one up to my quad?

I really want an analog tach....but it's not worth the 400$ part listed above....any other solutions? wiring woudnt be a problem/soldering and such....

thanks

It depends on which one you buy. The type in the link I posted has one wire, as hondabuster said. The one I have, and a few other models on the market, have a ground wire to connect too.
I haven't seen any analog tachs that use a wire wrapped around the plug wire. Most use a signal wire from the CDI or the (-) connection on the coil. I don't think you can use an analog tach on the coil connection if you have a CDI ignition, but I'm not sure what all types of tachometers are out there, so there could be one that'll work for you. It's a little tougher finding one for a single cylinder engine when most tachs can only be set for 4-12 cyl. engines.
For a speedometer you can get the Trail Tech computer or use a cheap bicycle model that has the option of adjusting for one revolution of the wheel to calibrate it. My neighbor mounted one of them on his Quadzilla and it works fine. I think he got it for around $25.00.
