Stock 2003 Rincon VS 2002 Yamaha Grizzly 660 with Mods
I found a 2003 Rincon with 170 miles, as I was dealing for a 2002 Yamaha Grizzly 660 with a Snow plow blade, winch, Masterpull winch rope, Aluminum ITP wheels with 27" mud tires and original stock tires, heated grips, A-arm gaurds, Barkbusters, K&N air filter, Big gun exhaust with 2 inserts. Also comes with a 5x8 trailer with rear ramp. 1000 mi
2003 Rincon 5700.00
202 Yamaha Grizzly 660, with mods and trailer,.....$5900.00
What is the feeling amoung you as to which is the better Value. I like them both! The wider tires make a great difference in the ride of the Yamaha.
Thanks,
Bison

The Grizzly is more powerful, faster, a better mud machine, and pretty much a better machine all around, except for trail riding only. But with the tires it will really help stability.
BTW, the dry weight on both machines is listed at exactly 600 pounds, and you wont find any big bore utility thats less than that. The sportsmans are the heaviest machines and are actually the best mudders.

I think both prices are bad unless they have extremely low miles on them. The Rincon has zero upsides to the Grizzly other than no worry about water in the transmission. Other than that, it has a crap transmission for utilizing its engine.
Stock Grizzly will outrun a stock Rincon. Plush suspension is nothing either. I wasn't ever aware the Rincon was anymore plush than a Grizzly. Some have said the Rincon turns better, but I can't vision that being much of a difference either.
No locker, half drum brakes, and a transmission that makes poor usage of what is probably a good engine for the Rincon.
I would get the Grizzly over the Rincon bone stock. In this case, I would have to look both over real good to see what kind of shape they are in first. The price on the Rincon looks to be a better deal than the one on the grizzly. But I'm probably saying that out of thinking that somebody that put that many mods on the Griz probably rode it more.

them prices are way high for what your looking at. trailor or no trailor, that is alot of money. the fact is, you can get a new grizzly for notmuch more. aftermarket parts on a qyad do not add up to the cost for selling them. i have seen 2002grizzly's with under 1000 miles on them, and wenchs, tires, sell for under 5 grand. hell, i sold mine a while back for 5500.00 with a plow, wench, jets, ramp, exhaust, 2 sets of tires, and tons of other stuff. look around better, them prices are easly beatable, by a grand or so.

Yeah, I'm with him on that. The accessories don't really make a quads value go up for near as much as they cost to put on it. Unless its just showroom. When I see all the mods, it makes me think the person used it more or maybe in a rougher manner even. Like seeing a 01 Mustang with a bored engine, thats just a sign that reads "stay away!!!" The tires and rims and the stick stoppers don't really have that effect, but the pipe and jet always leads one to believe that the previous owner rode the sheet out of it maybe.
and now that I paid more attention to the original message, the Grizzly is a ridiculous price unless its just a really good trailer. If I were buying brand new I would take the Grizzly, but the Rincon is the better deal here.

Those prices that Bisonbutt listed seem pretty good to me. I wish I had the prices everyone else says they should go for used. We have a guy in the local want ad selling a stock 04 with new tires and 120 miles for $7900. I think he's smoking something. The high used prices is what has justified me to just go buy new.

Howdy and thanks for giving me all your experienced advice. That is just what I am looking for.
I started my search by kicking tires at dealerships. The dealers don't seem to want to come off of 3-400 from new prices.
I ran an a atv wanted in the local paper and only turned up a few and all wanted up to1500 over book.
1-, 93 Polarius trail boss 350, $2500.00 bad forks, original tires
1- 02 Big bear 400, stock 600miles $4500.00
2- 97 2x4 polaris express 330 $ 5000.00
1- 95 400 Polaris magnun $4000.00
1- 300 Polaris 4x4 $ 2995.00
1 Grizz 660 already mentioned $ 5900.00 Broken plastic fore and aft of the foot steps
Several dealers called and told me about machines that they had and most had some good use. and just fair prices. The dealers would stand behind what they sell and that is value.
My type of riding may vary and I don't expect to be a heavy user. We have all kinds of terrain in Colorado and plenty of snow. I want to do it all. It will be important to be able to take the wife with me, and keep up with the guys.
Mitch 660grizz, you sold yours for what I am thinking of buying one for and it was a good deal for you. Why wouldn't it be a good deal for me?
The only negative in the Yamaha deal is the plastic is broken on the foot steps, both fore and aft on both sides.
I am surprised that more of you haven't jumped in and said get the Grizz.
The trailer new was priced at 1100.00 from a dealer and the grizzowner wants 400.00.
Thanks

Buying used from a dealer = ripoff and still no guarantee that its not a lemon or wont break down soon after purchase.
Now buying used from a stranger isnt all that much better, but at least you save money.
I was offered an 02 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO yesterday for 3500, your prices all sound way too high.
