why put grease fitting in carrier?
#1
I've read that that it is a good idea to put a fitting in the axel carrier of the warrior.
I am in the middle of changing out the bearing so I have it all apart and I see that the bearings are sealed and if the axel only contacts the inner race of the bearings what would be the benefit of pumping the carrier full of grease and should there be a bleed off hole too if you do it?
thanks Bill

I think the idea of a grease fitting in the axle bearing carrier is a way to replenish the grease that evaporates, seeps, and oozes away (these things happen, even though the bearings are "sealed"). Otherwise, the only way to grease the thing is take it down as you've done; not something you'd choose to fill your spare time. All-in-all, I think a grease fitting (Zerk) is a good idea, if you have the ambition to install one now: you could extend the life of your bearings considerably with this maintenance aid.

Another good reason for a grease zerk is some folks do not perform regular checks on bearing realted parts. The bearings wear and get hot when they get bad, then they tend to want to seize to the carrier. Next thing you know you are spending and hour beating the bearings out of the carrier. Doesn't take long to zerk it and it can save you some time and headache down the line.
