I got the same answer from Renthal. Their part number is R289-520-12. Same center as the YZ 250. I have one ordered to arrive Thursday.

Hey shollz...I downloaded your raptor "speed" video and you are haulin some but! One question though...when you are in top gear maxed out, are you hitting the rev limiter? I hav'nt got to very-top-speed yet, so was just wondering. Anybody else help out here? Thanks!

How about the rear sprocket? Is it the same as your Banshee?

Thanks.

I know you guys may think I'm crazy but you'd have to understand the kind of riding I do so...

Is there an 11 tooth front sprocket made? I REALLY wanna gear this thing slow. I don't want to change the rear sprocket for ground clearance reasons.

I already have on order a 12 tooth sprocket for a YZ 250.

Call sprocket specialists at 1.800.782.8200

I'm pretty sure they make an 11 tooth for the yz

Renthal doen't list a part number for an 11 tooth. They did tell me that the rear sprocket is the same as the Banshee though (interchangable).

For experienced sprocket-changers out there, will dropping a tooth make the chain too long and require cutting a link out?

I have a question for all the Raptor owners out there. Is the raptor geared that tall that you are going to sacrifice your top speed by probably at least 5mph to gain on the bottom. I am not knocking the raptor at all, I would love to ride one and compare it to my DS. But I read a lot of issues where everyone is wanting the raptor to smoke the DS. From how it sounds right now, they are pretty close, and with that smaller front sprocket, the Raptor will be slower for sure. I would be willing to bet that the raptor owners will be happier with opening it up with a pipe instead of losing speed on top to gain on the bottom. Now if this is for slow speed riding, and trail racing, where top speed is not an issue, then the gearing will probably work well, but, if the front comes up that easy now, the smaller sprocket will really make that thing pull up.

There should be plenty of chain adjustment in the rear end to soak up the extra length. If you dropped two teeth, then it might be a problem.

Thanks for the phone number. I'll check them out if this YZ 12 tooth sprocket fits and doesn't satisfy my trail crawling needs.

I'll go ahead and tell you what I'm up to. See, I ride every Sunday with a bunch of utility quads doing some pretty serious trail/woods riding. Speeds are often VERY slow for long periods of time. We're talking 1-2 mph here. As is, I'm having to ride the clutch almost the entire time I'm riding with these guys. The clutch (and my left hand) aren't going to hold up well to this for long.

About the top speed thing. Please read my thread on the subject. I think we may be able to figure out a way to run a 12 tooth sprocket AND raise our top speed to over 80mph without adding power mods.

justracnforfun,

I didnt know if you caught the other post. The guy was saying that the Raptor is being limited on the top, and would probably go much faster without the limiting( gearing, rev lim.) So, dropping the front sprocket to 12 teeth, will make the low end rip, and the top end isnt going to suffer. If not limited, it may have gone 80+ ...so from that number, you take off the 5 mph or so...and your still at 75, "with" the sprocket change. Sounds like a perfect solution.

Cheers all.
