Help Picking ATV
#1
Hello to all on the forum!
I have been surfing this forum for a couple of months and now have finally joined.
I had a ride on a few different ATV'S in September and have been hooked ever since!
So I have been looking around at the local dealers to try and get a good deal on a new machine.
I have narrowed my choice down to 3 machines.
05 Grizzly 660, Kodiak 450, King quad 700.
I want an IRS machine which narrows the field down considerably! I live in southern Ontario, and I will be using the ATV to plow my driveway which is not huge, hunting transport in the fall, and some light to moderate trail riding in the summer.
This is what is making my decision hard,
Do I really need a big bore?
If I got the Kodiak 450 would I wish I had spent a bit more and got the Grizz?
How is the King Quad going to stand up in the long run? It has not had chance to prove itself long term.
Would the reported heat problems/ axle problems make me wish I had taken the chance on the King with it's advanced features?
I am sure you are sick of answering these types of questions but I hope you could give me the benifit of your experience.

Sounds like the new King Quad would be a top choice....until the reverse fails. I'm not sure on the price difference on the Grizz vs Kodi, but both have same features and are powerful. I'd think you could get the Kodi and use the difference in $$ to get a good set of tires for it. Seems like most of the axle problems on the Grizz involve large, heavy oversize tires. I prefer the Kaw V-twins myself.

yamaha is working on a 800cc grizzly right now, so if i were you i would wait to test drive it when it comes out.
but if you need one right now and can't wait then you need to go with the one that you need. it looks like you did
your homework. i got my 04 grizz because it fits with what i need it for so keep that inmind when you get yours whatever it may be
have a marry x-mass grizz

Hey.
This is almost too funny. We're both going thru the long search and end up looking at the exact 3 same bikes.
I test drove all 3. Came this close to buying the King Q but nervous about 1st year issues. VERY tempted on the Kodiak! Fun machine! Bought the Grizzly on 12/23 because I really like the Black & Silver edition, features, ride, fear that I might want a bigger bike next year, and "dealer cross-my-heart-hope-to-die promise" that I got a very reliable quad.
For the money I paid I sure hope so! __ Yes, __ No, Readers, Please check one. Reasons:
For all you readers who answer our questions when we're trying to decide,...THANKS!!!!!
Good luck with your decision.

Thankyou all who replied to my post.
All three machines seem great but I think that I am leaning toward the Kodiak 450.
Is there any Kodiak owners out there willing to reasure me that I don't need a 660 Grizz to be happy?
The Kodiak seems like an awesome machine and it appears to be tough and durable. The price is also appealing!
Also is there likely to be much difference in insurance cost between the two?
Thank you once again,

I had an '04 Kodiak. It's a great machine, but I wanted more power. Went with an '05 Grizzly! Id depends what you want to use it for. Do you want to go over 60 mph? Go with the Grizzly.Do you want easier control? Go with the Kodiak. I hope this helps.
