Default Ice riding and studding.

I was at my summer house this weekend and I saw a few people riding their quads on the lake by our hosue. I know for the most part what I need to do it but I don't know what to get. I know I need to stud my tires. Either the ones I have now or get another pair. I don't want to use my normal tires cause I need those for when I'm not on the ice. I was considering looking at eBay for some tire rim combos so I pay less. Some tires with over half the thread left so you can still stud them. Or would I be better off finding rims and buying new tires, such as those knobby ice tires? Also how many studs would you put in the tires, rear and front. I am looking at riding around primarly, maybe some drag but nothing major. Finally what are the best but yet afordable ice studs?

Thanks,

MIke.

You really dont need studs, mine does just fine w/o them, but you do have to whip it around a lot.
Unless you plan on doin some serious racing, you should be alright.

really? cause I have no traction in the snow so I figured I would be screwed on ice. And would just stand still spinning the rears.

Sure they will definately help on ice even my big heavy 4x4 700 slides all over. Here are some pretty cheap ones.
