What size bore is it? I'm guessing a 102mm... Honestly what I would do is slap a stage two cam and go with a Ross or CP piston 102mm bore and 10.75:1 piston??? that would give you noticable gains, I can't stand the stage one cam, but remember you need valve springs to go with the bigger cam.
That is the build my sister and italian stallion have and they run pump gas and beat many high comp engines? I posted some vids on thanksgiving... do you have port work too?

I'm not real sure on my bore. I measured the cylinder and it came out to 101.90. Have not measured the piston it is still in the sleeve in the motor. I have the valve springs already in. Port and polish, stock modded carbs. Dyna cdi, that has been jiggled, sixsixty air adaptor.

I run a JE 102mm 12:1 with stock rod & have had no problems at all, well, except not enough time to ride as much as I'd like!
Too many people are getting hung up on JE. They made a bad batch a few years ago & nobody wants to let it go. Actually, it was the 686 wristpin that was weak so they beefed it up. Its in the past, time to let it go! I used them for years with no failures. I am not going to lecture about what kills a connecting rod but obviously you can get away with a lot if you don't rev the bejesus out of your Raptor & keep it jetted on the rich side. Ask Curtis Sparks, they don't even recommend a new rod on a 686cc build. However, if your in the bottom end it makes good sense to upgrade the rod.
