KFX700 vs Raptor "DynaTek Ignition"
My friend is an experienced rider and I am not. We were drag racing this past weekend and as long as I could keep my front end down, as soon as I hit 3rd gear I left him. I'm not sure how long the track is, though its probably less than 1/8th of a mile. ( actually im sure of it). He went out yesterday and ordered a DynaTek ignition. He seems to think this will push his 700 with full Yoshi's past me. Is that b/c of my lack of experience or is that cdi that good.
Should I go out and get me the DynaTek for the Raptor....... is it worth the $$$.

They are a nice piece of HP and RPM gain for sure. If you get the kit to program it yourself then you can RAISE the RPM's but then again, a stock motor will not handle the raised RPMs. I have one on a stock pipe and jetted raptor and it made a nice improvement and wouldnt go back.

I've got a full exhaust.
I just put LTE duals on it a jetted it to 155/160. I also put the K&N powerlid on there to help it breath. My Raptor runs great. My concern was how much the difference would be after my friend added his CDI box. With my lack of drag experience, would he stomp me.? I can beat him now!
I was also curious about the DynaTek CDI for the Raptor. i.e..... if the KFX was a threat, should I get one? If its not a threat...... should I still get one?
Is it worth the $$$......
Will I damage or take any real risk with my engine considering it is still stock.

if it was me i wouldent get it, if i were in your position and you started losing to the KFX (which i dont think you will) i would get a new, lighter piston at an 11:1 ratio (pump-gas) a Hotcam Stage 2(more mid-top end power) and the Valve springs, you can get all those for the price of the igniton and notice a much bigger powerincrease, then later when you want more power and revs, get the dyna, because your engine will be able to use the RPM gain. good luck.

If he was asking for the ENGINE work which he DIDN'T I would have suggested the port work and piston upgrade. But since you DIDN'T read his signature you might have known that he had an EXHAUST all ready boy.
Do what you want. My stock raptor that is Piped and jetted out performs any stock Raptor out there that I have come across. I wouldnt have purchased the pricey CDI if I didn't think it would do its job.

Dynatek CDIs kick *** they increased my spark by some crazy amount (like 800%) and add on average about 1,000 - 1,500 RPMs X_X. Not to mention the programmable curves & other features are KICK ***. I slapped that thing on and it threw my bike way onto the lean side due to the increase so be careful.
