Need help ASAP on Car stereo wiring ??
#12
Overrated- Yes i finished putting the car back together about 4:30 this morning. All is well except i somehow messed the A?C controller up. I am going to have to pull the passenger seat so that i can remove the side pod to get to the vacuum lines. I spent about 8 hours on this install but i was doing other stuff as well. I removed the old factory wiring and made a deal to mount the alpine amp in one of the storage wells to where it was out of the way. I had a car stereo shop tell me that it would be 500 labor to do it the way i wanted it done. I really like the powered infinity subwoofer. I think i paid a little under 200 for it new. I have seen them for around 375 in stores. It produces plenty of bass for a old man. (willie nelson and merle do not have a lot of bass anyway.) I am glad it is done and do not wish to do another anytime soon. I wanted to do it for a different reason. I bought this 1979 corvette for 2 grand to redo. I wanted to do as much as possible myself. I am down to figuring out how to make the head lights retract and getting the doors to lock properly. After those 2 items are sorted i am going to prep the body for paint and put the 1981 nose and tail on it. Once painted all the underhood brackets that i had chromed will be bolted on. Hopefully the final tally will be under 11,000 for the whole project including the cost of the car. Everything and i mean everything has been repaced/rebilt from the GM crate motor back.
Now that i am done i have another question
1. I installed kenwood 4x6 in the dash. ( I had some infinity plates but they would not drop down enough to clear the speaker grill. Is there a simple way to block the low freq to them.
I appreciate the help guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah probably your simplest way to block the low frequency to the front speakers is to use a non-powered filter. You should be able to pick these up at your stereo shop. you just connect it to your front speaker's positive wire. They look like a large resistor and you can just crimp them to you speaker wire. They rob you of a little power to the speaker, but my guess is those fronts are too loud for you now anyway.
