My friend borrowed his brothers '03 Blaster today to go riding with me and we have major problems, the piston seized. I'm sure of it, you have even move the kicker. Anyways, we need a price quote of how much it'll cost a shop to tear it down, hone out the cylinder and put in the new piston kit. If anyone knows, how much would a stock rebuild cost, and how much for an overbore (whatever size)? I figured labor would run more for the overbore, but parts are usually the same. We need this quick because his grandparents are in town and know it's not completely his fault, and are willing to help him out. But they're leaving the state tomorrow night. Thanks a bunch!

 

its about 120$ for a Piston kit from weisco that comes with gaskets and all if you can do it yourself. i dont know how much a shop would charge you.. its probobly a 4hr job (they would charge you)

 

I have done rebuild on bikes before, but I thought it'd be more reliable to have a shop do it. I guess it wouldn't be too hard?

 

i know from personal experince that you can get better reliablity by doing it your self, (=allowing you know something about mechanics and can follow directions to the head)I worked in a mechanics shop for a while, and alot of the mechanics dont pay attention to the detaiuls like the owner would like the plastics and stuff anded up really scracthed and stuff and the cylinder was scored, after it was bored by a professional. i would do it my self if i were you
