Default YAMAHA 2WD TO 4WD AND VICE VERSA

I owned a Kodiak prior to now owning a Grizzly. I always shifted on the fly (2wd to 4wd to 2wd, ETC.). I never had any problems. Recently, I was flipping through my owner's manual and it says to always stop before shifting 2wd to 4wd to 2wd. Does anyone do this? Am I doing something wrong?

I saw that to and asked my dealer about it and of course officially they want you to stop and do this for legal reasons, they would hate to tell somebody that they could do this and he goes and gets hurt and sue's them.

Un-officially it is not a problem if you let off the gas while doing so to allow it to engage without slamming the gears together, you should have no adverse effect if you just use some common sense while engaging and dis-engaging.

I do this all the time. If you are under warranty and have something go wrong, I would advise you not to mention what you have been doing. Do not give them any reason to void your warranty. A warranty problem could not even envolve the switching in/out but if they hear you say "Oh, I switch in/out all the time with out stopping" and they will declare the warranty void due to abuse.

Hope this helps.
