There is no released horsepower for the raptor. The magazines guessed in a review. 43-45hp.

Everything I heard placed it between 45-50hp. Why aren't there accurate hp readings out there?

How many of you plan to put your Raptor on a dyno?
Not only would it be good to know exactly where you are starting as a baseline, it would also be a good reference if you ever start to wonder if you have lost power or are just getting used to it.

If the power is actually just under 44 HP at the crank, then we do have a ways to go in order to regularly beat the DS and most piped Banshees. If this is the case, how hard do you think it's going to be to pass the 50-55 hp mark and do you think it will be done without going into the engine?

Also, in the magazine articles and ads, Yamaha and its representatives have claimed that the engine is more powerful than the engine on the 660 bike and also that it is the most powerfull ATV engine. If this turns out to not be the case, could that be considered false advertising?

I don't think the false advertising claim would work. It is the largest rated atv motor, coming in at 660cc's. As far as a Dyno'in my machine, there isn't a dyno within 50 or 100 miles that I'm aware of.

I think just some Exhaust and Airbox (Filter) mods could give us the needed 7 to 8 hp to break the 50hp barrier. As far as I'm concerned, that is plenty large for me. I don't ride in the dunes, so I don't have sand to rob horsepower, and I only weigh 120 pounds, so I think the 50+ Horsepower will more than do it for me.

Did anyone get a higher top speed with the intake modifications? (Opening up the intake more than 2/3's)

I wonder if Scooby will try to put a stage 3 kit on this one too???

As posted in another thread:

On the White Bros. dyno--37 peak horsepower.

No wonder it won't climb a Sand Dune.

Flyin Ryan don't believe everything you read especially when your full of sh@t! I have been reading everything you been posting. Nothing but bashing the raptor. Said you broke an axle and wheel post a pic jack a$$. You probably work for honda or some thing. If your a honda fan fine but don't bad mouth something you wished you owned. Get the H@ll off team blues forum and go cry red.

I MET A GUY WHO HAS HAD HIS 2 WEEK OLD RAPTOR ON FASTECH'S DINO IN OREGON. HE SAID HIS WAS AT 38.5 H.P. STOCK. AFTER PUTTING A 2" X 3" HOLE THE AIR BOX, TAKING THE SNORKEL OFF, PULLING THE SPARK ARRESTOR OUT, AND REJETTING (HE WOULDENT SAY WHAT SIZE), HE HAD 42 H.P. WITH PEAKS AT 47 H.P. AT 4000 AND 8000 RPM. HE WAS BEATING BANSHEES THAT HAD BEEN PIPED,DS 650'S, STOCK BANSHEES,WARRIORS,400 EX'S AND OTHER RAPTORS.
AS FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO CLIMB ON A RAPTOR, IF YOU HAVE EVER DONE A TREE SHOT ON A STOCK LENGTH BUILT BANSHEE, YOU ALL READY KNOW HOW TO CLIMB HILLS ON THIS THING. IT WILL CLIMB OUT OF ANY HOLE THAT A STOCK BANSHEE WILL. PLUS IT WILL GO FASTER GETTING THERE...
