730 Gearing

730 Gearing
I am in the process of rebuilding my 02 rear swing arm and are not sure what sprocket's to buy. I noticed on powroll site they reccomend 14/43 for a 730 which on the conversion chart is nearly stock spec.Would there be any advantage with the bigger front sprocket besides a longer chain? When my 686 was running my bike seemed to perform best with the 13/41 gearing but i also tried 12/40,12/41,13/40,13/42,13,43.

I don't have an exact answer, I'll leave that up to you to figure out. Just remember, bigger on the countershaft(small) sprocket equals more top speed, less accel. Rear sprocket is the opposite. Also, 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket is= to 3 on the rear. I do not know what stock Raptor gearing is, but with the info I gave you, you could geustimate and get you closer to where you want. Good luck.

Stock is 13/40, Pendejo you should have been able to figure that out from the specs you gave him.
It depends a lot on your compression and how aggressive your cam is. Personally I think all of those gear ratios are too low. I run 14/40 on a stock bore build and I have excellent power and great speed. If you want to hit 5th gear by the end of 300', go ahead and run the 12/41 or similarly low setup.
