Front Sprockets

Default Front Sprockets

Just wondering what the advantages and disadvantages r switching out my stock front sprocket to 12 tooth sprocket?

Advantage- Better bottom end.
disadvantage- less top end.

cool thks for the info..now how much top end will i lose? is it going to be really noticeable? also will it strain the engine running the sprocket? thks

only if you run topped out will you notice it really.

You will probably loose about 5mph

Maybe, if that much. I switched to a 12 tooth on a stock 03 and raced a stock 02 with stock gearing. We were both in 5th and had been in it a while before the 02 could catch up, and it was barely pulling on the 03. IMO all stock and piped bikes should be running a 12 tooth front for just about anything. Nice in the sand too to turn the paddles.
