I am in the market for a 4X4 and have narrowed it down to these 2 machines. I have always had Hondas but the extra power of the BB has me looking that way. I am mainly looking recreational riding with occassional camping and work thrown in. I want to be able to go over or through anything that gets in the way; mud, water, hills, etc.I want to be comfortable all day riding it. I need to keep cost down, $5000 max. and unfortuneatly I can't buy this month when all of the 2000 models are on clearance. I have heard the BB is too low geared unlee you put big tires on and this voids warranty. The Wolverine would be nice but I want protection from the mud and also there doesn't seem to be much selection of good tires for it. Anybody with a 2000 BB that can tell me how it rides, handles or compares with the Rancher? Thanks for any help! BK

I don't think you could go wrong with either machine.
I have a 2000 BB, a riding buddy has a 2000 Rancher. The BigBear is geared a little lower, top speed of around 45. My buddies Rancher has the E.S.P, which I didn't care for. I looked at both of them pretty hard before deciding on the BigBear. The biggest influences for me were the 50 extra c.c's and the taller tires. Also the BigBear is slightly larger overall which for me was a plus. They are both very capable machines, so I think it will depend on what you want to do with it. If working hard is a priority then the BigBear gets the nod, If playing hard is more important then the issue gets a little cloudier.
I have ridden both and don't regret my decision in the least.
