Default atv tach

are there any tachs that are not the tiny tach style? if so,where to get them?

do a search and youll find previous post about this subject, im not even going to waste my time. Ron woods for one, plan on spending $200 for any tach for your bike.

Nice info, but Ron woods doesnt carry them any more...

Pretty much your only choice for analog is a jr. dragster tach from autometer which only goes up to 10k rpm. If you want digital there are plenty of choices and you can search to find those.

can you use a cheap tachometer from an auto sore? its designed for a car but will it work the same?

im interested in this topic too, because when i go to Aids Auto, i see decent looking tach's for about 50$, the needle type. i think i need a Dyna Ignition to hook it up though..

The pulse rate on the dyna ignition is 2 pps which is compatible with most tachs designed for 2-4-6-8 cylinder configurations. Thats why you can use the cheap autozone tachs for them. If you install a tach not set for a 1 cylinder configuration and the correct pulse rate then you will get incorrect readings from the tach if it works at all on a stock coil.

I have been unable to find the pulse rate of the stock coil.

The thing that matters most on a ATV tach is the delay.
