Ok so I do a nice ride one afternoon. Hit some foot board mud and splash through some pretty high water. Nothing that is submerging though. Rig is a mess with mud so I have to power spray it to get it clean. What should I do maintainence wise when it is all cleaned up?

Grease wherever you can, reoil the chain.O ring chain, don"t get to close with the pressure washer. One thing I learned last week,do not use the wax at a carwash. It spots really bad,and is really hard too get off if you don`t wipe it down right away!

I have a Kodiak 450 so ther should not be a chain. Just wondered if I should check any place for gathering water.

First off dont pressure wash the engine directly heard thats not good for it secondly - use cycle wash by suziki to keep it clean its a little pricey but will do tha trick after lotz of mudd and if you want to do regular maintence on tha machine then invest on Yamaha Maintence Book its only about 30-40 bucks but it will pay for itself in the long-run

The maintainance book is probably a good idea.

After the basic washing, I try to get as much mud out of the radiator as I can. DON'T use the pressure washer here. It will bend the little fins on the radiator. Just use the garden hose with your thumb over the end. I spray water on it until it comes out clean. Next, I clean the air filter if it needs it. Oh One more thing, make sure you spray out the inside of the wheels to get the mud out of the brakes.

Everyone is so afraid of the high pressure washers!

Go to your nearby self wash car washes and spray it down. Plug or cover your exhaust and spray the entire bike down, just don't spray real close unless it is on your plastic body or skid plates etc. After every ride I swing by one with a few bucks and my Raptor is spotless. It only takes a few minutes and keeps your bike nice and clean. Before you put it away oil your chain real good and once and awhile lube your certs.
