Default 2005 Kodiak

Has anyone had problems with the plastic around the tank fading, (with gas spillage) on the 2005 Kodiak? I put gas in my new kodiak for the first time (about 10minutes after I got it home) and spilled a little gas around the tank plastic. I wiped it up immediately and washed it with soap. It took the "clear coat" right off! I'm thinking, Man I just bought the thing! I asked the salesman at the dealership and he basically said that I will have to live with it. I don't won't to be too picky. But anyway, from now on, I put a towel around the tank before I put gas in it. Otherwise, I am real happy with the Kodiak, of course it only has 10 miles on it so far. I went with the 2005 Kodiak because I bought a new Kodiak back in 1994 (still got it) and it has really been a solid machine. All I've ever had to do is change oil, air filter, 3 batteries in 11 years, and RIDE! Any feedback on the new plastic and gas would be appreciated.

yeah I had the same problem with mine(Blue). I use a towel around it now too. I'll live with it , it's going to get worse with the scratches and bumps and bruises the trails dish out.

It is green. I know it is going to get scratches, etc. But I'm the kind that tries to keep my stuff looking new as long as I can. Especially when I put that much money in a 4-wheeler. I only had it just a couple of hours and there was already a big blemish on the tank from the gas spillage. My 1994 Kodiak never had this problem. The 94's tank is still shiney and new looking.

Maybe spray a little Armorall or 2001 where you spilled the gas. that might put a little shine on it to cover it.

10-4 I'll try some armorall. I have already tried Proshine, it didn't help.

I bought some stuff called trim shine made by Stoner. YOu just spray it on and walk away. Brings back the shine good as new. It was only like $2 at autozone.

mine is green and my plastic all over is dull. it was nice and shiney when new but faded after washing and rubbing. i just live with it. my friend has a yellow eiger which he bought at the same time as mine and his looks just like new, very shiney all over. i don't always wash the mud off my quad after riding but he does, don't know if that makes a difference. how long does the trim shine last? i use armor all wipes but it only shines temporarily.
