Default Raptor shift fork

I'm looking at buying a 2001 660 Raptor from it's original owner. After asking the guy about any transmission problems he answered with "I had an aftermarket shift fork installed because I was awar of the problem and wanted to prevent it from happening" Has anyone heard of this, just want to make sure he's not trying to pull a fast one on me.

Thanks

Its the gears not the shift fork. you have to upgrade the transmision gears to 02 or newer.

when the tranny detonates, the shift and shaft usually go as well. The gears are still the problem though.

I don't know what to do. I know when I go see it this weekend I'm going to want it but I'm worried about the tranny.

dont sweat the tranny, its worse then it appears. it happends to like 1 in every 1,000 bikes. everyone hears about the problem, freaks, and spends 600$ on new gears.. The bike will be fine, oh, and ask him howmuch the "shift fork" was, maybee he updated the tranny and didnt know what it was called?
