The o-ring chain is supposed to be much better. It actually has o-rings in each link. I'm not sure of their purpose but I'm guessing that they keep lubrication where it's needed thereby keeping dirt out. Just my observation, if someone can correct me, please do.

The raptor comes with an o-ring chain from the factory. Chains without o-rings can be used as a cheaper replacement.

Madwolverine hit the nail on the head.

Keep in mind though....that while an o-ring chain will usually last longer than a standard chain...it's life depends on it's maintenance....and the terrain that you ride in.

Never directly pressure wash an o-ring chain to clean it. This blows the grease out of the links and will cause it to wear more quickly than a standard chain.

The worst part regarding cleaning the o-ring chains is that they have to be cleaned more regularly because the grease from the links actually attract sand and dirt and causes wear...therefore require more cleaning more often.

Most racers do not use o-ring chains due to the extra weight it adds to the quad and the extra strain on the drive train, which robs you of horsepower.

Just a couple things to help you decide.

KNOWSALOT.... Doesn't Doug Gust use an X ring chain = weight??
For your application O-ring chains would be better, and are better in almost all activies... X ring chain is suppose to be strong but I myself have yet to use them
