Default 2003 Grizzly Diff Lock Problem

I have a 2003 Grizzly and the digital dashboard always shows that that differential is lock whether it is or isn't. So now when I'm riding in 2 wheel drive (differential unlocked) the bike will not go faster then 20 mph. If I disconnect the digital display then it is fine. Everything I've tried seem to have me thinking that the display has gone bad and needs to be relaced. Has anyone out there ran into this problem? Is there a wire I could cut on the rear that would stop the display from sending the siginal to the CDI box to cut the speed? I looked in the local dealership Grizzly manual but the newest one that have was 2001 and that is before the new displays.

Thanks,
Jay

Default 2003 Grizzly Diff Lock Problem

Had a friend that had this problem on a 03. His problem was in the actual servo motor (I think thats what it is) that connects to the differential. There is a sensor or something in there that got stuck. Had some guy he knew take it apart, and figured it out. I don't know any specifics, just that this is where the problem was and thats how they fixed it. His was a 2003 model as well. Did the exact same thing yours is doing.

Default 2003 Grizzly Diff Lock Problem

Under your seat beside the battery, there is the cdi box, with about three plug ins. take out the one screw that is holding the cdi box to the battery box area and in the bottom plug there will be solid white wire. this wire controls the rev limiter for the diff locks. many grizzly owners have cut this wire to eliminate the rev limiter while in diff lock.

This will eliminate your rev limiter and may fix the problem, but the problem is not this wire, it is a sensor in the cervo motor that engages the front diff lock. I have never had to fix that sensor and if you can't get it fixed, cutting this white wire will probably eliminate the rev limiter. Make sure you cut the wire far enough up so that if you want to reconnect it you can.
