The owner's manual doesn't mention one. I can't find it on the machine or in the parts manual from the Yamaha website.

Does this machine not have a fuel filter?

Nope, they come with out a fuel filter. But its easy enough to add an inline type of motorcycle filter. All the motorcycle and atv supply places sell them. Polaris makes a good one for their sleds, that also filters out water.

 

the fuel filter is in the gas tank. if you drain the gas 100% and look in the tank you will see two gas screen filters mounted on the petcock. top for reg and lower for reserve. adding a fuel filter after the petcock and before the carb can cause vapor lock in the newly installed filter.

 

I have been using a inline filter since new and have not had any problems of vapor lock. Just have to find the smallest filter that you can find because there is not allot of space to add one in. I pick one of from the local lawn mover shop and it works great.
