yeah you would need to rejet either way
i dunno much about jettin the stock carbs

you would prob. be better off buying a pro flow kit instead of a whole new airbox
it will be cheaper

i just got my outerwear airbox cover in the mail so i can keep out sand and still run without the lid

if you keep the lid on on either setup you wont have to re-jet, if you remove the lid or drill holes, ect, you will.

leave the lid off and rejet, cheap power mod. buy a good jet kit as you will end up tweaking the carb later too. I have heard mixed reviews on dynojet kits, some out of dumb luck get good results and others are left feeling frustrated and mad and just sell them on ebay. I would suggest going on ebay and looking for a kit that sells genuine mikuni jets. That is all you really need.

yes the gytr kit is really good and another really good kit is sold on ebay. The ebay kit has more jets then the gytr and if you ask they sell pilots too. All said and done it is less money then the gytr and you get more genuine mikuni jets.
