Default Project Blaster

Hello
I will be buying a 96 yamaha blaster in about 2 weeks. Its stock except its been bored a few times and has been ported. The rest is stock.

What I need to know is, with enough mods, can a blaster beat a stock raptor or light moded 400ex?

I need to know what I will be needing to do this and how much its going to cost.
So far im thinking
-ProCircuit pipe
-Uni air filter
-larger main jet
-new tires
-250r rear shock
-240cc big bore kit

-When I buy the big bore kit, which comes with the top end will I need to replace some of the bottom end?
&
-will like other axels, A-arms and shocks fit on a blaster with out to much trouble?

no sacastic remarks please, lets keep it clean

and thanks for any help

it can be made to ride with stock 400ex's and maybee lightly modded ones, not on top end, but it will accelerate close, but not a Raptor 660R.

be careful what you say about blasters beating another quad. last time somebody asked that a big "fight" broke out, about whether or not blasters suck and crap like that.

well Id like to keep it clean. If they want to argue about which is faster then they can do it through e-mail. I just want to know if you put enough mods into a blaster can beat a light modded 400 or a stock raptor, or lt250r

With a 240kit you'll be faster than a 400ex (even lightly modded) AND might be able to keep up with a rap. Depends on rider and what mods you do. If you are going to get a 240 kit and really trick it out talk to Shav0 he's done tons with his blaster and can really help you out

I would get a pipe for it. I like my pro-circuit i have on mine. I can hang around a 400ex but not on top end though. Go to my site and chekc out the vid to hear what a pc exhaust sounds like on a blaster. My pc cost 189 from denniskirk and the silencer cost i belive it was only like 98 bucks. Uni air filters are fairly cheap like around 20-30 bucks. Im not sure a 250r rear shock will fit but im not saying it wont. Tires can range from around 20 bucks for sum really cheap ones all the way up to almost 100 bucks depending if you get the rim packages or not. If you do that then they are more expinsive. Im planning on buying some razors 20-11-9 for 31 bucks a piece and maby some douglas rims for 29 bucks 8x8 rear. Good luck with the mods man.

Thats a nice sounding blaster, most have a crappy sound to them. A 250r will work, may take some work, but it will work iv seen it on a mojave and I have a pic of one on a blaster but I don't know how to post it.

Anyways Im Canadian so products are a little bit more not much. Iv checked out Dennis Kirk a few times and ill probly buy most small things from there and big things at a shop.
Around here there is a stock 666R raptor, 400 ex with 416, dg pipe (may have more but I dont think) and another 400 ex with 440 kit with yosimura pipe and elka suspention. Theres also a 87 lt250r with FMF pipe and some other small mods. They all do pretty close to about 130kph and a stock blaster does ruffly 100kph. So what could I do to make it faster?

And the 240 question again, do I need to get some new bottom end parts if I get the 240cc kit?
Also Im going to be jumping this bike so will other A-arms, axels or shocks that will work on it?

sorry about all the writing haha

With a 240 kit (perferably HWD or CT) your gonna need a better pipe then pro curcuit to feed your engine the air and performance for a 240 kit. The best pipes for these setups are LRD,Dynoport, and CPI. And I would highly recommend getting an aftermarket axle and a-arms with the performance mods you are gonna be putting on there. Aslo some new aftermarket shocks and larger carb, reeds, new airbox, and lightened flywheel would make a night and day performance..

Well that sucks ***, I really wanted to get a Pro Circuit pipe for it. Well would the silencer still work with it? If I get a good pipe for it Id have liked it to be Pro Circuit but since that wont work Id rather get it from a company like FMF that Im more formillur with.

2 questions here
If I get the 240 kit will I need some bottom end work?
If I get the 240 kit can I get a different pipe for it and use the Pro Circuit silincer?
