Default yes, another kodiak 450 tire question...

So I want to go a little bigger than stock for the 05 kodiak. I ride on trails a decent amount of time but usually while looking for mud. I was thinking 26 mudlites on itp type 5 but I don't want anything that's going to stick way out from my fenders (at least on the front). Any thoughts on size or any other suggestions?

thanks.

Go with mudbugs. just put them on my grizz and love them. go 26-10-12 front and 26-12-12 rear.they by far are the best bang for the buck.

I bought the DU Wetlands 26x8x12 & 26x10x12. Haven't had a chance to run them yet but they are stock width and do not stick out. They look aggressice enough for mud and are radials which helps w/the IRS.

ok, if you are going to stick them on aftermarket rims, THEY WILL STICK OUT, do to the offset of the rim, EVEN if you run 26"x8x12.... they will stick out about 1" to 1 1/2"....

i put 26"x10x12 on front, and 26"x12x12 on the rear... Mudzillas...on ITP C-series type 4 rims.... in the rear... about 4 to 4.5" stick out AT least on each side... and in the fron about 2 to 2.5" at least...

If money isn't an option, I'd say go with the aftermarket rim. It won't stick out too much. Will look better, and will make the quad more stable than before (yamahas are too narrow).

Looks like you have a different opinion from everyone who replied.

If the wheels stick out to much for you, invest in the overfenders to keep you clean...I got a set on mine. I was planing for wheel spacers

Thanks everybody..... for making my decision even harder!

I'd also like to see some reviews on the new Mudlite radials on 12" wheels (not the 14") when they become available. Am I correct in thinking that they will be the first radial for light mud riding with a one inch tread? The Ducks radial is 3/4", correct?

Perhaps I'll have to see if they make the overfenders for the 05.

thanks.

Yes, the DU tires are 3/4" tread. I don;t think the overfenders are available for the '05 yet but I might be wrong. I used my stock wheels for the DU tires so they do not stick out at all. My Kodiak will be used primarily for hunting and I do not want to get muddy while on the way to the stand ot truck. I do a little trail/mud riding but not too much.

Yes the DU Wetlands is only 3/4" tread depth, according to the website. I have a set of 25's on order at this time, I will be letting you all know how they do. The oe Maxxis tires did fairly well for stock tires in mud, but rolled badly on cornering and off camber down hills. I hope to get improved handling and incresed mud performance. I like the look of the new ITP Mudlite, but I could not afford the whole package anyway, big bucks!!! I could buy new tires for my pickup truck for those prices.., maybe the new will wear off eventually and the price will come down.
