wow, so this isnt your bike? Good thing, ive never heard anything like that, make sure you carbs slides are moving freeling, so say you clean the jets but the black carb slides that your needle stick in, sounds like they are getting stuck. I thnk its something to do with the carbs.

and it may very well still be the carb...but the slide and needle is working properly...how about on the top where the diaphram thing is...would it run if somehow this isnt seated properly?...and is there a heat sensor intergrated with the cdi?

There is a reverse rev limiter on 02 and up Raptors that would act like you describe. Temporarily ground the green/white wire under the front sprocket and see if your symptoms change. If symptoms change, start with the parking brake.

Another thought might be the choke assembly, they are known for gumming up and sticking.

hey ubetrun...thanks for the advise...i know the sound of a reverse limiter and how it cuts off and all...this one is more like a bog...but i think you pointed me in the right direction...i did not clean the choke area.. just disconnected the cable from the bars....i also remember choking when trying to rev but there was no change...i will also ground the rev limit jsut for poops and giggles...also...there are 2 thermoswitchs...one obviously triggers the fan....but whats the other do?.....does it feed info to cdi...or is that technology not made it to quads yet...thanks again

Parking brake acts somewhat similar to the reverse limiter.

I was dumb enough to have it on one day and I thought I'd screwed something with the motor up royal. Make sure thats off....though I'm sure most people are not as simple as me!!! Good luck...

They sure have a lot of sensors on the Rap....too many for my tastes, but I suppose most serve a good purpose...

yes it does it in neutral and with it in gear w/ clutch pulled...i grounded the rev limiter with no change... im still leaning toward electrical...my research has lead me to the thermo diode and or the 2nd thermoswitch...choke is still a final option but im thinking it would flood and die if that were the case...it just idles too perfect....i just dont have much experience with this machine...

You might also want to check the carb boots carefully, they don't run worth a crap after part throttle if there is an air leak at the carb boot.

You really should check the choke assembly before you start tearing into the wiring harness. Do a search and learn the symptoms of a sticky Raptor choke.
