this is exactually what i want. i want a quad that will wake me up.....and keep me up all day long.
one question, my 300ex can wheelie pretty good in 2nd gear, but when im in 3rd gear...i pull on the handle bars hard and give the throttle and yet i can only get the front end not even half way up. even if i use the clutch it really struggles. how will the 45R compare to this?

love that feeling... lol so you mean i can be driving normal ( on all 4 wheels) in 4th gear, then without using the clutch i can lift the front end up and wheelie???

right you are.
you have to pull up a bit...i mean its not totally uncontrollable to ride and keep on the ground.
keep in mind this is with pipe and everything else too.
but to answer your question yes.
and about a 450.....ive heard that they are hard to ride in trials and woods....might want to do some research on them before choosing them.

why would it be to hard? i dont do just woods. i like to ride in ditch trails alot too.
what other quad would you recomend? i guess my 2nd option would be a raptor....but....... i was looking at raptors... they seem waaaaaaaaay to narrow for my taste. the raptor is just as wide as my 300ex. and raptors seem a little heavy too, i dont think they would be to good for the small-medium jumps i like to hit. and no way im buying a z400......(ive never been a suzuki fan) and i dont want a 400ex, cuz its really not much different then my setup now. what other options do i have? eithier a 450...or raptor... i dont know

i guess, what i want is a quad thats waaaaaaaaaay better then my 300ex in everyway. i want somthing that will keep my happy for a long time. a quad that has arm pulling strenth, fast for the long straight ditches/dirtroads i like to go on. and will wheelie good.

if you want something thats going to have arm pulling strength then go with the YFZ or TRX 450.
The quads dont want to slow down, you ride them as hard as you can and they still want to take it more and more. Hopwever if trail riding is all your going to do it may not be the best choice. i meant its hard to trail ride because the motors are so cammed up that its hard to ride in trails and tight areas. You would eat a clutch up every summer if thats all you rode on. The quads were bred for the track....if you really want a trail machine then a raptor or a z-400 would be the best bet......but in reality its up to you, what you want and how much you want to spend.
Ive never been a suzuki fan either....but i certainly would not throw the z-400 idea out the window until youve ridden one. That is the best suzuki theyve ever made. dont get me wrong ill ride a yamaha til i die...but the z-400 is not a bad bike.
yeah the raptors a bit heavy.....but its not as narrow as it looks in all the pics youve seen. Its not very tippy either like alot of the people say. To tell you the truth i havent jumped it yet so i cant tell you how it takes jumps. It will certainly be better thn your 300EX in many ways.
When i got off the warrior and hopped on the raptor, its sort of like going from riding a horse and buggy to town...and then taking a 5.0 mustang. It is like night and day....it will definately make you happy.
sorry for the book i just wrote, hope it helps though.

well yesterday i went to my local Yamaha dealer and looked at their quads. i guess the raptor isnt that bad as i thought it was. actually felt good when i sat on it. but then i noticed how narrow the rear end was. for some reason i just dont like how narrow the near end looks. is their any way i can make it like 2 inches wider without buying a new axle? like maybe wheel spacers? and my last worry would be if the raptor wouldnt be the type of jumper i hope it would be. becasue i love to jump. anything from little 1-2 foot jumps, to jumping driveways in ditches. i just dont think the raptor wouldn't like that. anyone out there that jumps wanna prove me wrong?
when you say the 450R is geared high,, does that count for the YFZ also? which one is geared lower? the trails i go one- its not like they are very very tight trails. on my 300ex im usually in about 3rd gear. never do i need to be in 1st. so unless the 450R's first gear is like 3rd gear on my 300ex i shouldnt have a problem.

check this guys profile pics
check the first guys profile pics for air on his raptor if you have doubts on jumping it.
i didnt say they were geared high, they are both geared relatively the same i think, i mean its all cammed up like everytime you give it the gas it wants to go like heck, there isnt a happy medium in the tight trails.
yeah you can get wheel spacers for the rear....but not reccomended if your jumping it.
