Thanks Windmill for the link I thought this part of the article was interesting:

Businesses who used the program in Calgary are now getting a legal opinion on how it affects them.
Under the Fair Trading Act, they could be liable for the money.

"Sure they could", says Eoin Kenny with Alberta Government Services. "They were the ones who actually offered the incentive to get them into their premise. so both the originating company cashable vouchers plus the participating merchant would also have a role to play and would be subject to I guess an investigation by our consumer services branch.


So maybe the dealer would be partly liable.

About the $4500 dollar rebate, they just filed bankrupcy. Just thought I would let everyone know. The dealer I bought it from is out of business also.

I know this thread is old, I just wanted to make an update. The dealer "Yochum Motorsports" that was bought up in this thread was ran out of business this last fall/winter due to this scam. They were one of the dealers who sold items under this rebate scam.
